the send is an output and the receive is an input. you can connect effects there.

Connect the Send of the DSL to the Input of you pedal. Take the Ouput of the pedal and connect it to the Receive of the DSL.

Send goes to the input of your pedals. The output of your pedals goes back to the receive.
