what makes you think these prisoners don't have degrees or some kind of skill before they got there?! you probably think they were groomed to be criminals from the get go! WAKE UP! try going to a rehab center or detention center and try talking to an inmate before you post anything derogatory!!!!! i hate people who think they're better than others!

I did a part of my thesis in this prison on my visit to Cebu. Some of these inmates have crimes ranging from theft, posession to murder, to rape, to double murder with rape or all of the above... When I first went in, I thought I'd throw up but honestly most of these guys are actually just happy to see an outsider visiting them...

Maybe you should check out this movie called "Take the Lead" based around a teacher trying to put some discipline and values into detention students by teaching them to ballroom dance. It's based off of a true story as well so no lies in that, whether you think dancing teaches people skills (besides the obvious) is up to you, but people have tested this in the past and it actually did work.

lool last time I checked ppl would rather dance -out- of prison then in it. I doubt these inmates would break a law again just to go back into rehab 'cuz they're having "fun" that would be silly. I think it should be enjoyable,a lot of them aren't hard time criminals (from what I've heard). It's a good idea for rehab because it requires a lot of discipline and responsiblity, something you need out in the real world. Reading a book can't teach you that,it's something you learn through experience.

And don't tell me that learning to dance like a little pet dog is going to give these inmates the skills they need to get a decent job once they get out. They should be studying a trade, or improving reading and writing skills that will help them get a job once they get out of prison.

But what happens when the "rehabilitation" is more enjoyable than trying to cut a living on the street? How much of a deterrent is that against breaking the law again? Not much of one.
