Yeah you'll have to pull up very hard initially, you'll know once you've reached that point where the bike would just sort of sit there and balance. Keep practicing and you'll be able to pull it up to that balance point very quickly :).

hey im trying to learn the manul but i always just fall down straight away i have my shoes at the start of the pedal my bike is heavy could u help

oh, yeah i tried slowly pulling back. kinda help though =) i'm using a haro f2c kinda small and a full chrome body so its heavier than normal bikes XD
